The ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) /Otolaryngology department at Annapurna Neurological Institute & Allied Sciences focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders and conditions related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck. The primary objective of our ENT department is to address a wide range of medical issues related to the ear, nose, throat, head, and neck regions.We diagnose and treat conditions that affect the senses of hearing, balance, taste, and smell, as well as those that affect breathing, speech, swallowing, and overall quality of life.

Our ENT department offers specialized care in various areas, including:

1. Ear disorders:  Conditions affecting the ears, such as hearing loss, ear infections, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), vertigo (dizziness), and disorders of the ear canal and eardrum.

2. Nasal and sinus disorders:  Conditions related to the nose and sinuses, including sinusitis (inflammation of the sinuses), nasal polyps, deviated septum, allergies, nasal congestion, and problems with the sense of smell.

3. Throat and voice disorders:  Disorders of the throat and vocal cords, including hoarseness, vocal cord nodules or polyps, laryngitis, swallowing difficulties, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) affecting the throat.

4. Head and neck tumors:  diagnosis, treatment, and management of benign and malignant tumors in the head and neck region, such as thyroid nodules, salivary gland tumors, throat cancers, and neck masses.

5. Sleep disorders:  evaluate and treat sleep-related disorders that involve the upper airway, such as obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, and other breathing disturbances during sleep.

Our ENT department utilizes various diagnostic tools and procedures to assess and treat patients effectively. These may include:

1. Endoscopy: Using specialized instruments, visualizing the nasal passages, throat, larynx, and other areas to diagnose and treat conditions.

2. Audiometry: This test evaluates hearing ability and can help diagnose hearing loss and related disorders.

3. Imaging studies: imaging tests such as CT scans or MRIs to obtain detailed images of the head, neck, or sinuses for diagnostic purposes.

4. Allergy testing:  perform tests to identify specific allergens that may contribute to nasal and sinus disorders

Treatment options within the ENT department can vary based on the specific condition and severity but may include:

1. Medications:  to manage and alleviate symptoms associated with ear, nose, and throat disorders, such as antibiotics for infections, nasal sprays for allergies, or steroids to reduce inflammation.

2. Surgical interventions:  various surgical procedures when necessary, such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, ear tube placement, vocal cord surgery, and head and neck tumor removal.

3. Rehabilitation and therapy: Referring to  speech therapists or other rehabilitation specialists to address speech or swallowing difficulties.
