The department of Pathology at Annapurna neurological Institute & Allied Sciences focuses on the study and diagnosis of diseases through the examination of tissues, cells, and bodily fluids. The primary objective of ourPathology department is to understand the nature, cause, and progression of diseases at a cellular and molecular level. Here at our institute, we  utilise high end laboratory techniques and procedures to examine specimens and generate diagnostic reports. These techniques include:

1. Histopathology: Examine tissue samples obtained through biopsies, surgeries, or autopsies. The tissues are processed, embedded in wax, sliced into thin sections, stained, and examined under a microscope to identify any cellular abnormalities or disease-related changes.

2. Cytopathology:  Analyze individual cells collected from various body fluids, such as blood, urine, sputum, and fine needle aspirations. These cells are examined to identify abnormal cell morphology, detect cancer cells, and diagnose infectious or inflammatory conditions.

3. Hematology: Evaluate blood and bone marrow samples to diagnose and monitor blood disorders, such as anemia, leukemia, and clotting disorders. They examine blood cell counts, assess cell morphology, and perform specialized tests to identify specific diseases.

4. Microbiology: Study infectious agents, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, to identify the causative organisms responsible for infections. They analyze cultures, perform sensitivity testing, and interpret results to guide appropriate antimicrobial therapy.

5. Immunology:  Assess the immune system's response by analyzing blood and tissue samples. They utilize specialized tests, such as immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry, to detect specific markers, antibodies, or abnormal immune reactions.
