The department of Neurosurgery at Annapurna Neurological Institute & Allied Sciences focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders and conditions affecting the nervous system, particularly the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves encompassing a holistic approach including preventive curative as well as rehabilitative service.
The primary objective of our Neurosurgery department is to address a wide range of neurological as well as neurosurgical disorders and conditions, including both congenital abnormalities and acquired diseases. our competent experts in neurosurgery treat and manage conditions such as:
Brain tumors: diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors, including both benign and malignant tumors. The surgery is performed to remove tumors or reduce their size, often in collaboration with oncologists and radiation therapists.
Spinal disorders: Various conditions affecting the spinal cord, vertebrae, and surrounding structures. This includes spinal cord tumors, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spinal deformities, and spinal trauma. T
Stroke and cerebrovascular diseases: Management of strokes, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and other cerebrovascular conditions. Procedures such as endovascular coiling or surgical clipping are performedto treat aneurysms or remove AVMs.
Traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries: Emergency management of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries to stabilize fractures, remove blood clots or hematomas, or relieve pressure on the brain or spinal cord.
Functional neurosurgery: treat neurological disorders that affect movement, such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, or dystonia. This can include deep brain stimulation (DBS) procedures, where electrodes are implanted in the brain to modulate abnormal brain activity.
Peripheral nerve disorders: Treat conditions affecting the peripheral nerves, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral nerve tumors, and nerve entrapment syndromes by performing surgeries to release compressed nerves or remove tumors affecting the peripheral nervous system.
Our team of Neurosurgery was established in year 2009 within a rehabilitation center and with decades we have expanded to a multispecilaty services expanding to various institutes of Nepal. Our Neurosurgery facility is equipped with State-of-art Modular operation Theater, Intaoperative CT scan, 3T MRI, 64 slice CT scan, 24 hour Video EEG, Neuronavigation, High tech operative microscopes, neuroendoscopy, sterotactic surgery system.

Our Neurosurgery department utilizes advanced imaging techniques, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), and angiography, to assist in the diagnosis and planning of surgical interventions. In addition to surgical procedures, our neurosurgeons also provide non-surgical treatments, including medications, and other minimally invasive interventions. We work closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including neurologists, neuroradiologists, orthopedics, psychiatrists, neurointensivists, anesthesiologists, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.
Our department of Neurosurgery is committed to improving the quality of life for patients with neurological disorders through surgical interventions, innovative treatments, and ongoing research. By addressing complex neurological conditions, we aim to restore or improve neurological function, relieve symptoms, and enhance the overall well-being of their patients.
